Fixing My Washer & Dryer =D

So I finally got a washer and dryer last week (bought from a very sweet friend) and while we were installing ran into two significant road blocks =(

The first one is pretty common, and not too hard to fix, which is that the dryer had a three-prong cord and my outlet is four-prong. So I went to Home Depot, got a new cord, and with the help of a drawing from the nice old man in Home Depot and Google I was able to change the cord out the next day in about 20 minutes.

The second problem was a little more tricky. While we were trying to tighten the water hoses in the back of the washer the cold water inlet valve broke inside the washer. So I ordered the part online and it arrived this morning.

*Here is a blurry phone pic of the old/broken part and the new part.*

Thanks to the extremely well made instruction video from the site that I ordered the part from (repairclinic.com) I was able to replace the part myself in about 30 minutes (would have been less but I had a little mix up when re-attaching the water hoses that made a nice puddle of water through my hallway… it was a total blonde moment).

*And here’s a great fuzzy shot once everything’s back in place.. plus the tools and replaced parts. (Can’t forget my most often used tool… a nice dose of caffeine!)*

There aren’t even words to describe what a relief it is to finally have my own washer and dryer!!! I don’t have to haul all my laundry in my car everyday anymore! YAY!!!

Needless to say, I’ve ripped everything off beds and windows and am doing laundry ALL DAY today as celebration =D
